Cecilia Valdez

  Cecilia is a Tucson native with more than 40 years of union activism and leadership under her belt. In that time, she’s served as a Union Steward and an Area Vice President with the Communication Workers of America. She is the Chair of her local union’s Committee on Equity, as well as their Legislative Committee, and has served as Coordinator for the
local CWA HOPE Golf Tournament supporting the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the Flowing Wells School District. A CWA Minority Leadership Institute Graduate in 1993, Cecilia was appointed to CWA’s National Committee on Equity from 1992 to 1998 and has been elected to represent her District on the National CWA Defense Fund Oversight Committee. She currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer for her CWA Local 7026. She’s an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church with her husband, who is also a respected local union member. Cecilia’s true passion in life is unionism, and she brings a legacy of championing the causes of working families to this  role.
