Nal-NiSHii Federation of Labor President on Tribal Leaders’ Meeting with Gov. Walz
Nal-NiSHii Federation of Labor President Ervin Jackson released the following statement following a tribal leaders’ meeting with Governor Tim Walz in Phoenix, Arizona:
Today’s meeting once again highlighted the stark contrast between Vice President Kamala Harris’ and Governor Tim Walz’s commitment to tribal communities and the neglect we faced under Donald Trump.
Throughout their careers and on the campaign trail, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz have demonstrated a deep respect for Indigenous peoples, championing our rights, our sovereignty, and our cultural heritage.Trump’s presidency brought land loss, worsened health disparities, and challenges to our sovereignty. Another term under Trump would be devastating.
In the final weeks before the election, we’ll be reaching out to indigenous union members all across our state to ensure that tribal union members know Vice President Harris and Governor Walz respect our cultures and sovereignty and are committed to a future where Indigenous voices are heard and honored.
