AZ AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Responds to Trump EO Stripping Collective Bargaining from Federal Workers
Fred Yamashita, Executive Director and Secretary-Treasurer of the Arizona AFL-CIO, issued the following statement in response to Trump’s Executive Order stripping collective bargaining rights from federal workers:
“The Arizona AFL-CIO stands firmly against President Trump’s latest executive order, which seeks to unlawfully silence the voices of nearly a million federal workers by stripping away their collective bargaining rights. This blatant union-busting maneuver undermines the essential contributions of federal workers, from TSA agents, healthcare professionals in VA hospitals, and other fellow workers vital to our government’s function.
Trump, alongside unelected billionaire Elon Musk, aims to weaken our ability to organize for fair wages and advocate for better working conditions. This attack is part of a larger, more dangerous agenda outlined in Project 2025, designed to dismantle labor protections and strip workers of their bargaining power, reversing decades of progress. This is not just an assault on federal workers; it is an attack on all working people across the nation.
Let us be clear: union members will not stand idly by while this administration attempts to silence workers. We are a united force and will continue to mobilize every union member, community ally, and lawmaker to protect the rights of federal workers and all working people across Arizona.”
