The Blue Wave is Union-Made: Arizona AFL-CIO Celebrates Sweeping Pro-Worker Candidate Victories

ARIZONA – Arizona’s working families are celebrating a historic and sweeping victory, electing pro-worker candidates across the state! Including a poised Democratic majority in the State House and Senate since 1966. This election, union members organized to get out the vote and showed up at the polls in droves to make our voices heard.
We celebrate our triumph in electing pro-worker candidates at both the state and federal level including: Governor Katie Hobbs, Lieutenant Governor John Giles, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, Attorney General Kris Mayes, Congressman-elect Dr. Amish Shah, Congresswoman-elect JoAnna Mendoza, Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Terry Leyba Ruiz, and Corporation Commissioners Clara Pratte and Jonathan Hill.
“Arizona workers have been organizing towards this victory for years. It’s been decades since our labor movement has not been on the defensive during a legislative session and now it’s time for Arizona to deliver for working families,” said Fred Yamashita, Executive Director and Executive Director of the Arizona AFL-CIO. “The labor movement is proud to congratulate our pro-worker winners.”
Voters made it clear that they are ready to take power back from the billionaires to put workers first, lower costs, raise wages, and create an economy that works for all of us. We look forward to working alongside our newly elected representatives to strengthen workers’ rights and make life more affordable in Arizona.
